Outdoor Metal Steps with Anti-Slip Rungs
Reliable Anti-Slip ladder rungs for Any Environment
Safety and Hazards: Why Choose Graepels Outdoor Metal Ladder Rungs?
Outdoor ladder rungs are exposed to more than just foot traffic. From rain and oil to mud, frost, or corrosive environments, outdoor stair systems must withstand conditions that can make other materials slippery or unsafe. That’s where Graepels’ outdoor metal ladder rungs come in.
Our SafeDeck range of perforated metal rungs are trusted across industrial, agricultural, and commercial settings. Each profile is engineered with anti-slip perforations that improve underfoot safety while offering excellent drainage and durability. Whether you’re building fire escapes, machinery platforms, or service access steps, our perforated SafeDeck rungs deliver reliable performance year after year.
How to Choose the Right Outdoor Steps in 3 Steps
Outdoor access systems are not one-size-fits-all. Choosing the right steps depends on your environment, industry, and the specific conditions they need to withstand. Here’s what to consider when selecting your outdoor metal rungs.
1. Consider Your Industry and Application
Outdoor steps in a marina will face different challenges than those on a grain silo or factory catwalk. Consider the surface conditions, load requirements, and safety demands of your site. Graepels outdoor steps are commonly used for:
- Fire escapes on industrial buildings
- Access ladders for maintenance platforms
- Steps on agricultural machinery or grain silos
- Outdoor steel rungs for warehouse storage access
- Mobile units and service ladders in emergency vehicles
Drainage, corrosion resistance, and slip resistance are essential. Our SafeDeck rungs are available with raised, serrated, or embossed profiles to suit high-risk conditions and frequent use.

2. Outdoor Metal Step Material
Your material choice influences weight, corrosion resistance, and long-term performance. Graepels offers a range of materials and finishes suitable for different outdoor environments.
- Outdoor Aluminium Rungs: Lightweight and corrosion-resistant, our outdoor aluminium rungs are ideal for mobile platforms or marine environments. We offer pickled or anodised finishes to increase protection and extend lifespan. Take a look at our other aluminium products.
- Outdoor Steel Steps: Our outdoor steel steps are tough and versatile. Choose from galvanised, electroplated, powder-coated, or painted finishes. All options are made to EN and ISO standards for strength and weather resistance.
We also offer stainless steel options for applications where hygiene or high corrosion resistance is required, such as in food processing or coastal zones. Take a look at our other stainless steel products.
3. Additional Features
Our outdoor ladder rungs can be tailored with custom perforation patterns, cutouts, and finishes. Anti-slip edge teeth improve grip on the front edge, while clearance cutouts make it easy to install steps between fixed ladder bars or support frames.

Our Most Popular Outdoor Steel Ladder Rungs
Graepels-22-Round 8
Ideal for outdoor stairs and high-slip areas, the 22 Round 8 profile offers strong anti-slip performance and drainage. This profile uses a single perforation type with 8mm diameter holes on a 15mm pitch. The upturned perforations provide enhanced underfoot grip, making it a dependable option for external staircases, fire escapes, and walkways.
Graepels-30-Round 6
The 30 Round 6 profile is suitable for a wide range of environments, including industrial steps and machinery access. It features 6mm holes with a staggered pitch and a flatter perforation style compared to the 22 Round 8. With an unperforated edge, this rung provides secure footing while maintaining a clean, functional appearance.
Graepels-55-Metric
The 55 Metric profile delivers one of the highest levels of slip resistance within the SafeDeck range. It combines raised perforations with large countersunk holes at the centre of the rung, offering both drainage and underfoot safety. This makes it ideal for demanding industrial settings where safety and surface performance are essential.
Graepels 64 Perl
The 64 Perl, also known as the “Pearl” profile, is the only SafeDeck option with a closed, embossed surface. It does not allow for drainage but provides a smooth, comfortable underfoot experience with no open holes. Suitable for both public and private sector use, this profile is often chosen for architectural, dry, or indoor applications where drainage is not a priority.
The Benefits of High-Quality Metal Ladder Rungs
Investing in high-quality outdoor Rungs means fewer replacements, safer operations, and greater long-term value.
- Slip Resistance: Raised and embossed perforations help reduce the risk of slips and falls in wet or uneven conditions.
- Corrosion Protection: Choose from galvanised, stainless, or coated finishes for dependable outdoor performance.
- Custom-Fit Manufacturing: We fabricate to your exact specification, reducing time on site and improving installation efficiency.
- Rapid availability of standard sizes: Popular surface patterns are held in stock, allowing for immediate use in time-sensitive projects or urgent replacements.
