Laser-Cut Text

Where Words Become Art: Design Your Message with Clarity and Style

What is Laser Cut Text?

Laser cut text is what the name implies text which is laser cut into sheet metal.

Laser-Cut Text can be used anywhere in historical contexts for signage, architectural applications or even for industrial purposes laser cut signage, logos for machines and customization. Laser-cutting can be combined with perforated metal or woven wire mesh for additional functional or aesthetics depending on your requirements.

  • Lettering and Text size: Font size and complexity of the text. Laser cutting is removing the material whatever the background is behind the text can interfere with complex text and small font sizes. It is best to opt for fonts that have good legibility and are not too intricate as the detail will not translate well. Large text tends to be more readable.
  • Background Noise & Location: Taking the above into consideration, smaller laser cut text can work well if there is not a busy background and there is contrast between the colour of the laser cut panel and the background. For example, a light panel which has a dark wall (background) is legible.
  • Contrast, Light & Colour: Colour plays a vital role in making perforated or laser cut text ‘pop,’ we advise that you consider the direction of light whether natural or artificial. Especially if the panel is to be viewed at night. Additionally, the combination of colours and lighting influences how much contrast is achieved, this directly contributes to intensity and overall legibility of the text and visual impact.
  • Design Requirements: Another important choice is to consider any sub framing and whether this interferes with the lettering legibility if the frame is running behind the cut-out lettering this can take away from the overall result.
  • Material Selection: Discuss your specific requirements for material type, grade, thickness, and surface finish. Different materials, such as stainless steel, aluminum, or mild steel, offer different properties and are suitable for different applications.
  • Material Specifications: Stainless Steel, Mild Steel and Aluminum
  • Material Thickness: Enquiry specific – As a general rule we can comfortably cut up to half the maximum material thickness range which would be 12mm mild steel, 8mm Stainless Steel and 4mm Aluminium
  • Sheet Size: Up to 3000 x 1500mm
  • Size and Shape openings: There are no limits to shapes and sizes of openings. The only limit is your imagination!
  • CAD Design: Graepels can work with your drawings to ensure accuracy and precision manufacturing to customers specifications.
  • Vector Format: Provide your text in a vector format such as SVG or DXF. Vector graphics ensure that the lines are crisp and scalable, resulting in accurate cutting.
