Metal Grating

Why Graepels Metal Gratings?

Metal gratings, also known as steel gratings or metal grates, are robust structures typically made from steel or aluminum. They consist of parallel, evenly spaced bars or slats, usually welded, or joined together to form a rigid framework.

In comparison with traditional open mesh gratings, LightProfile grating offers wider support widths and additional slip resistance, without compromising its high open area.

What are Metal Gratings used for?

Metal Gratings are for underfoot use in flooring, walkways, stair treads, platforms construction, raised floors etc.
Graepels lightprofile grating is an excellent alternative to open mesh floor grating, offering many key advantages.

Although lightprofile was developed for use as flooring it has also been used as ventilation panels for car parks and as wind and rain barriers or for enclosures.

Flooring and Walkways: providing durable and slip-resistant for walking surfaces on crushers and agricultural machines, flooring and walkways in industrial plants, factories, warehouses, and outdoor areas such as bridges and ramps.
Stair Treads: They are used as treads on stairs, offering secure footing and preventing slips and falls.
Platform Construction: to construct platforms and raised floors in industrial facilities, allowing for safe access to equipment and machinery.
Drainage Covers: for covers for drainage systems, allowing water to flow through while preventing debris and objects from entering. And for walking on for bunkers and pits with cohesive loose goods such as grains or ground particales
Catwalks and Mezzanines: utilized to create catwalks and mezzanine structures for accessing elevated areas in warehouses, factories, and commercial buildings.
Safety Barriers: They serve as safety barriers and fencing in industrial environments, providing protection around machinery or hazardous areas.
Aesthetic Applications: gratings are used decoratively and functionally in building facades, landscaping, and interior design for their aesthetic appeal and functional properties.
Security Fencing: perimeter protection in sensitive areas such as military installations, prisons,
and airports.
HVAC Grilles: Gratings are used as grilles and screens for ventilation systems in buildings and industrial facilities.
Overall, metal gratings offer strength, durability, and versatility, making them essential components in various industries for safety, access, drainage, ventilation, and structural support purposes

Drainage & Open Area: LightProfile metal grating offers extreme drainage, with an open area of 74% to 80%, depending on the grating width
Underfoot Safety: LightProfile metal grating is an ideal choice for areas where high dirt volumes and precipitation can put underfoot safety at risk
Versatile: Graepels metal gratings can be used for applications in a vast range of industries serving many distinct functions.
Strength and Durability: Metal gratings are sturdy and capable of withstanding heavy loads, making them suitable for high-traffic areas and industrial environments.

LightProfile is an excellent alternative to flat bar grating with the following characteristics:

  • LightProfile offers extreme drainage, with an open area of 74% to 80%, depending on the grating width
  • It offers an extreme drainage effect, excellent slip resistance and displacement as well as a high transverse stiffness
  • LightProfile is an ideal choice for areas where high dirt volumes and precipitation can put underfoot safety at risk
  • Available in a variety of materials, for example stainless steel & aluminium, and finishes, for example hot dip galvanisation and pre-galvanisation
  • LightProfile gratings are available in length up to 6,000mm which can be cut to length by special request
  • LightProfile is incredibly versatile as the angle of the flat bar can be changed for certain applications, such as cladding, as it allows light and air into the building
