What is Chelsea Gold Flooring?
Graepels proudly manufactured Chelsea Gold, for the acclaimed Chelsea Gold Flower Show in 2014, London, where it achieved the prestigious gold award. Hence its name Chelsea Gold. The flooring is ideal for locations necessitating both slip resistance and efficient drainage.
The flooring design incorporates a hexagonal pattern. The pattern is perforated into a variety of materials including Corten metal sheets.
The design uses a mix of countersunk and flush holes which offers a secure grip.

Flooring and walkways can have an additional finish known as ‘shot peening.’ In instances where the material cannot be left to weather naturally, shot peening provides an even finish, additional grip, and a textured finish.
Textured Grip (shot peened)
For the Chelsea Flower show the flooring panels were shoot peened for additional grip and texture.
Chemical Ageing Stage 1.
To avoid run off or staining in situ, the aging process was speeded up through chemical process.
Chemical Ageing Stage 2.
The panels were left to weather further. Leeching, or run off, seen here, its’ done to avoid it happneing in situ.
Stabilised Corten Stage 3.
Stabilised Panels the weathering steel is no longer producing run off and has stabilised and formed a natural patina.
Perforation Sizes: Available in 5mm up 8mm in diameter
Depth of pressings can be increased, and the hole sizes decreased to facilitate a higher point load
Material Thicknesses: Ranging from 2mm to 4mm thick
Sheet sizes: Up to 4meters long and 800 wide are available. Note: 1mm widths with rib reinforcement can be welded to the underside.
Slip Rating: Application in Commercial and Private slip ratings of R12 and R13 are available. Note* Different material will provide different slip ratings.
Pitch configuration: Can be adjusted for the pattern other patterns like diamond and square are available.
%Open Area: Is low to facilitate the strength of the panel it can be increased if required.
Metal Type: Corten (S355 Weathering Steel), Stainless Steel, Bespoke materials such as Pre-Galv. For special purpose – please contact rep for further information and Aluminum.

Walkways: Although Chelsea Gold was designed with aesthetic use it can nevertheless be utilized to create catwalks and mezzanine structures for accessing elevated areas in warehouses, factories, and commercial buildings. We would recommend using a simpler pattern like Chelsea Standard.
