Stainless Steel Ultrasonic Cleaning Trays
Think Perforation, Think Graepels. Precision Perforation for Perfect Results
Graepels manufactured a set of custom finished box trays for a precision fabricator supplying the medical device industry. Built in 316 stainless steel, the trays hold components securely through ultrasonic cleaning while letting fluid move freely around every part.
Two variants were produced, one using perforated metal and one using woven wire mesh, both engineered for durability and repeatable performance.
Why Choose Graepels?
We have almost 70 years of experience across the UK and Ireland, with expertise in perforated metal, woven wire, metal fabrication, laser cutting, and ISO 9001 certified manufacturing.

The Brief
A medical device manufacturer, working alongside a local precision engineering fabricator, came to Graepels for a stainless steel tray solution to use inside an ultrasonic cleaning process.
The trays had to hold precision components securely during cleaning while allowing fluid to flow around them without restriction. Two variants were needed, one built with perforated metal and one with woven wire mesh. Both had to meet the standards for precision, durability and cleanliness that the medical device sector demands.
The Solution
Graepels engineered the design detail, taking the initial concept through to a solution that could be manufactured repeatably. Both tray types were produced in 316 stainless steel.
Perforated Trays
The perforated trays were produced on our own perforating machines, then precision laser cut from sheet along with the slot-fit dividers that create secure internal compartments for parts. Tray bodies were formed using precision folding, with relief details built into the design for efficient assembly.
Woven Wire Trays
The woven trays followed the same design and production route, but woven wire mesh replaced the perforated base and sides. The mesh was spot welded to the stainless steel frame, giving better visibility, drainage and fluid circulation while keeping the strength needed for repeated use.
Graepels supplied the complete turnkey package, managing design refinement, material processing, fabrication, forming, welding and finishing to deliver production ready assemblies.
The Outcome
The finished trays are durable, repeatable and well suited to handling medical device components through cleaning.
Bringing together precision laser cutting, our own perforated metal and woven wire, and our fabrication expertise in stainless steel, we delivered a product built to the customer’s exact requirements. Components are better organised, each cleaning cycle works harder, and the trays stand up to a demanding medical environment.
The project shows how Graepels supports other fabricators with turnkey work, taking a concept from design through to finished assemblies for specialist industrial applications.
