Why Choose Aluminium Cladding Panels?
Aluminium is one of the most adaptable sheet metal cladding materials, offering strength without unnecessary weight. Ideal for outdoor use, and it performs well in both commercial and architectural applications. Whether you’re designing for form or function, aluminium cladding is a reliable and flexible option.
Why Choose Aluminium Cladding Over Other Materials?
Aluminium is lightweight, durable and easy to fabricate, making it ideal for both architectural and functional cladding. Unlike heavier metals, it’s lighter and easier to install, easier to handle and transport. Aluminium cladding offers excellent design flexibility and is fully recyclable, making it a smart choice for sustainable and modern construction.
1. Choose Between Perforated or Mesh Panels
Perforated cladding creates a clean, uniform appearance and is available in a range of shapes and patterns. It is often used for screening, shading and decorative finishes.
Mesh cladding offers a more open structure, suitable for applications where ventilation or transparency is a priority. It is commonly used in architectural and security contexts.
2. Choose the Correct Panel Sheet
Sheet size: Standard options include 2mx1m, 2.5mx1.25m and 3mx1.5m. Sheets up to 4mx2m and 6m in length can be produced on request. Please note generally longer panels will make transport, handling and installation more difficult and or more expensive.
Sheet thickness: Popular thicknesses range from 0.75mm to 12mm. Cladding generally is kept to a thinner thickness to comply with windloads and subframing, your engineer should advise you on this.
How many sheets will you need? This depends on your total coverage area, panel layout and fixing requirements. We’re happy to assist with estimating quantities.
3. Pick the Right Design for Your Project
Your design choices affect both the visual outcome and practical performance.
Aperture: Choose from a wide range of perforation sizes (1.5mm to 20mm) with other larger apertures available on request for bespoke pattern.
Percentage open area: Standard tooling allows for 0% to 60% open area (perforation) or 80% if using woven wire mesh . Customisation is possible depending on design and airflow can be increased by forming the panels into 3D shapes.
Picture perf: Our picture perforation service allows for custom imagery, patterns and even photographs to be turned into striking metal panels.
4. Consider Any Additional Finishes or Fabrication
Finishes and fabrication options are an important part of completing your aluminium cladding specification.
Finishes: Choose from anodising, powder coating or painted finishes in a range of colours and effects, depending on your aesthetic goals.
Fabrication: We offer a range of fabrication services including; folding, bolt holing, roll bending, flattening and more. Our team can advise on the best approach for your project’s scope and detail.
